United Solar, auxiliary of Energy Conversion Devices, declared that it has completed the rooftop solar power installation over the Moon Palace Hotel in Cancun, Mexico, which hosts the Climate Change Conference of the United Nations.
The global event slated to discuss assurances on greenhouse gas emissions will have around 20,000 participants from all over the globe.
The photovoltaic installation completed over the rooftop of the hotel was guided by Enel Green Power, a renowned renewable energy company, and received adequate support from the Ministry of Environment Italy and SEMARNAT, the Environment Ministry of Mexico. The 130 kWp solar installation over the rooftop of the hotel is designed to generate around 220 MWh of clean renewable energy and offset 110 tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year. Enel Green Power has chosen the patented UNI-SOLAR thin-film solar modules for its light weight properties and robustness to endure adverse weather conditions of Mexico.
Mark Morelli, President and CEO of Energy Conversion Devices, the parent company of United Solar, said that the selection of UNI-SOLAR modules for a high profile project at a Global conference location evidences the unique attributes and superiority of the product. He added that solar energy has an important role in dealing with the problems related to global climate change.
