Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G), a gas and electricity delivery utility company, from the state of New Jersey, is commemorating the building of its Linden Solar Farm close to its Linden Generating Station.
The 3.2 MW ground mounted solar facility is one among the four such solar farms the company is promoting under its $515 million Solar 4 All patented program. The solar farm is being constructed over an unused land property, thus making it useful for power generation.
PSE and G has initiated around 20 solar projects under its Solar 4 All program with an investment of over $140 million and Linden farm is one among them. The program is anticipated to generate around 30 MW solar power for use in New Jersey and create around 300 jobs in the state. The Linden Farm proposed over an area of 10 acres of the company owned property will incorporate around 11,484 solar panels. The power produced from the farm will be directly connected to the power grid of the company to benefit its clients. The power generated from the facility is sufficient to provide electricity to 525 average sized homes in the state. The other three ground mounted solar farms will be located in Yardville, Edison and Trenton with 4.4 MW, 2 MW and 1.3 MW power production capabilities respectively. All the four programs of the company have received the required state approval.
The 20 solar projects, which the company is developing under its Solar 4 All program are expected to generate enough electricity to power over 4,900 homes in the state and offset 23,000 metric tons carbon dioxide discharges, which can be equated to removing around 2,800 cars from the roads for a year. The company is planning to benefit its electricity rate payers by returning the financial benefits such as federal tax investment credits, sale of additional power and solar environmental credits (SRECs) accrued to reduce the total cost on the program.
