China Sunergy, Pythagoras Solar to Produce BIPV products

China Sunergy, a Nanjing, China-based solar manufacturing company and Pythagoras Solar, a company offering building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) products, declared that they have entered into an accord to co-market and encourage development and large scale production of BIPV products in China during 2010-2015.

The signed accord will enable both the companies to benefit from the growing BIPV market in China by marketing the transparent and high energy converting photovoltaic glass units (PVGU) manufactured by Pythagoras Solar.

The signed accord will require China Sunergy to work in close association with Pythagoras Solar to promote the penetration of PVGU products by offering up to 75 MW of highly productive solar concentrator cells within the 5 year period. The PVGU products provided by Pythagoras Solar will mix the modular and protection advantages of the standard insulating glass unit (IGU) along with solar power production and flexibility of installation on any type of construction. The other areas covered under the contract include selling and production of PVGU of Pythagoras Solar by China Sunergy and the formulating and providing of new solar concentrator cells to improve the capabilities of BIPV systems.

Stephen Zhifang Cai, China Sunergy’s CEO, said that the BIPV products provided by Pythagoras Solar forms the base for his company to grow into fields of vital importance, as the company is looking forward to expand its technology portfolio. He added that his company is looking forward to supplying solar concentrator cells to Pythagoras and deem that the joint effort will benefit both the companies.
