Juhl Wind, a company known for its community wind power projects, declared that it has received $12,564,150 U.S. Stimulus funding for the new 20 MW wind power project accomplished at Grand County, situated close to Hoffman Minn, in central western part of Minnesota.
The U.S. Treasury Department provided the grant in conformity with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The grant yields were used for making part payments towards the financing arranged by Juhl towards the community wind project.
Dan Juhl, Juhl Wind’s CEO, expressed satisfaction over the completion and commissioning of the wind project located at Grant County. He added that the 20 MW is an example for the other joint venture wind projects that are under construction in the Minnesota region valued around $86 million. He explained that the U.S. Stimulus grants have assisted his company to share around 30% of the project costs on various wind projects that are presently under construction and with those to commence its constructions in 2011.
Dan Juhl, added that the stimulus grants provided by the country do good for the community- owned wind farms. He added that the community owned wind farms help in retaining the funds with the Americans allowing the production of clean wind power. He praised the stimulus funding, for assisting the creation of community wind projects, allowing short as well as long term economic development, and creating a number of jobs while allowing the country to have a secure energy future.
