OPEL Solar, a provider of high concentration photovoltaic (HCPV) solar panels and other solar products, declared that it has contracted an accord with Toray Plastics (America) for the installation of a 446 kW solar power plant at the headquarters of the company in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.
Toray Plastics has chosen OPEL Solar to avail its high energy solutions and low cost power generation feature. OPEL Solar is planning to install its TF-800 single axis tracker module for the plant for augmented power generation.
The proposed solar plant will incorporate 1,650 PV panels mounted over 50 TF 800 single axis trackers provided by OPEL Solar. The solution provided by OPEL Solar will allow Toray to generate 20% more power than the other traditional type of fixed solar panel installations. The solar tracker system deployed in the installation will allow continuous tracking of the sun without causing shadow over the other panels all through the day and year. Also the modular type of design utilized by TF-800 allows faster and cost-effective installation and does not require welding or special equipment and save on the cost of installation.
When completed the Toray Plastics solar power plant will produce around 625 MWh of solar power every year, which can be equated to providing electricity to 100 homes all through the year. The project will also allow the Rhode Island employees who are engaged in solar installations to gain the skills in installing an advanced solar tracking module.
