SunPower to Construct Solar Power Plant for E.ON Climate and Renewables

SunPower has entered into an accord with E.ON Climate and Renewables Italia Solar to design and construct a 3.4 MW ground- mounted solar system for the company in the Lazio region of Italy. The company is planning to commence the building of the plant this year and looking forward to complete it by April 2011.

The proposed solar power plant will incorporate SunPower E19 solar panels and SunPower T0 solar Tracker Systems. The panels will be installed over the tracker system to follow the movement of the sun all through the day and to deliver around 25% more sun energy than the traditional fixed, tilt type solar systems. The new type of installation  will also reduce the land requirement for the installation. The new solar Tracker system does not require concrete pier foundations and the maximum height of the system does not cross two meters of height thus avoiding the environmental and visual impact issues.

Yoram Amiga, SunPower’s President of Utility and Power Plants International, expressed his happiness on E.ON’s understanding of the new SunPower technology and how it delivers increased power production per hectare. He added that his company is looking forward to delivering quality products of the company that provide increased reliability and production performance to serve the local people with clean green power.

Christophe Jurczak, E.ON’s director of PV, said that his company has an objective to supply cost effective and eco-friendly energy by vesting in latest expertise on renewable energy power production. He expressed happiness for associating with SunPower in  e plant development that will allow the company to increase its functions in the growing Italian solar market.
