Scotland Planning to Generate Power from Renewable Energy Sources

Scotland is on the lookout for implementing more renewable energy applications and low level carbon generating energy sources. The Scottish government is exploring new renewable energy venues to support increased usage of green energy in the country while applying it to benefit the local communities.

According to Richard Lochhead, environment secretary for the Scottish government, Scotland is undergoing an energy revolution with the implementation of a number of tidal and offshore wind energy projects that provide more revenue and continue to offer increased revenue potential. He said that the government is studying the introduction of essential changes in the law that will put the government in an answerable position on implementation of offshore wind projects. In a statement, he said that his country can possibly show a way for renewable energy generation and can serve as a place for renewable energy development.

Presently, Scotland retains around 25% of the Europe’s tidal and wind power generation capability. The government is planning to generate enough electricity from renewable energy sources to meet 80% of its power requirements by 2020.
