China Ming Yang to Install Yandun Town Offshore Wind Project

China Ming Yang Wind Power Group, a wind turbine manufacturing company in China, declared that it has won a bid in a government sponsored wind farm project in the Hami area of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China.

The company will jointly develop the Yandun No.6 wind power generating farm along with an independent power producing company Xinjiang Huaran Oriental New Energy.

The company has acquired one tenth of the total 2,000 MW capability of the Xinjiang Hami wind power projects and install its 3.0 MW wind turbines for the 200 MW project. The company will install 67 units of its 3.0MW Super Compact Drive (SCD) wind turbine generators for the project. The total award of the contract is estimated to be around RMB 824 million. The company bid for this first offshore wind farm project of China in October 2010. China has planned for six offshore wind farm projects in Yandun town and four in Kushui town. The company has received the award for Yandum town wind project.

Mr. Chuanwei Zhang, Ming Yang’s Chairman and CEO, said that the award is in recognition of its SCD expertise and the cost reduction it  brings in implementation. He added that for fulfilling the 200 MW contract, the company has acquired 118 units of the SCD type of wind turbines. He expressed optimism in leading the Chinese wind industry and capturing a major share in the Chinese wind energy market
