Lighting Science Group Supports Solar Decathlon

Lighting Science Group, a company that revolutionized the LED lighting technology by bringing out cost-effective and high-output LED lights, will support the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon 2011. The biennial event was first held in 2002 and continuously took place in 2005, 2007 and 2009.

The Solar Decathlon program, which has received a number of awards, will demand the 20 participating collage teams to bring out their own designs to construct and control the solar-powered houses. The houses need to be attractive and should generate solar energy efficiently and cost-effectively. The ultimate winner of the program will be the team that presents an appealing, affordable with distinctive design to generate maximum power with utmost efficiency.

Zach Gibler, Lighting Science Group’s chairman and chief executive officer, shared his excitement in sponsoring the Solar Decathlon event. He added that the event will witness team participation from all over the world and they will have an occasion to further improve the efficiency of the house by utilizing high-performing, cost-effective and efficient LED products.
