SunPower Installs Solar Power System for Bakersfield College

SunPower and Kern Community College District have recently dedicated the 1.1 MW solar energy system installed at Bakersfield College. The solar system fitted with the exclusive sun tracking expertise and high productive solar panels manufactured by SunPower is expected to fulfill nearly one third of the total power requirement of the college.

SunPower has installed around 3,700 solar panels over the canopy of the college parking, spanning 3.1 acres. The solar panels fitted over SunPower’s solar tracking facility will follow the path of the sun all through the day and produce at least 25% extra energy than the likewise sized flat panels installed over the rooftop systems. The solar facility erected over the Bakersfield college campus will offset nearly 2.3 million pounds of CO₂ emissions every year, which can be equated to keeping around 5,900 cars off the roads of California for a period of a30 year lifespan of the solar system. SunPower completed the solar installation in a period of five months.
