Vestas to Deliver and Commission Wind Turbines for Oak Glen Wind Farm

Vestas, a company offering high-tech wind systems, has contracted an accord with Oak Glen Wind Farm, a Blooming Prairie, Minnesota located wind power project to supply 24 V90 1.8 MW wind turbines. Oak Glen Wind Farm is an auxiliary company of the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA).

The project will be handled by Avant Energy, a Minneapolis-based company that offers energy administration services to universities, large commercial power users and utility companies.

As per the clauses of the signed accord, Vestas will deliver and commission the wind turbines and will also provide a five year maintenance accord. The delivery of the wind turbines will commence from late summer of 2011 and the project is expected to go online at the end of the year. MMPA is a company devoted to renewable power generation and currently it provides electricity to its 11 member communities located in Minnesota.

Martha Wyrsch, Vestas America’s President, said that the V90-1.8 MW wind turbine is exclusively designed to generate maximum power in places plagued with medium wind speeds. He shared his excitement to install a clean power project in Minnesota, a state that leads in wind energy generation. He concluded that the project will generate adequate number of jobs in construction and maintenance requirements.
