Evolution Solar (EVSO), a company that offers solar energy photovoltaic technologies and products, has cited a new report from IDC Energy Insights titled, “Business Strategy: Trends to Watch as the Rate of North American Solar PV Installations Doubles in 2011,” and expressed optimism about the future of the solar energy industry in North America in 2011.
The new IDC Energy Insights report analyzes the existing trends in legislations, scientific and technical developments, and prevailing business patterns that will have an impact on the solar photovoltaic industry in the ensuing year. The report points out that the year 2010 has seen around 1 GW solar installations and predicts that the solar installations in North America will go beyond 2 GW in 2011. The report mentions that when compared to a meager addition of 441 MW in 2099 the year 2010 saw nearly 1 GW solar installations.
Jay Holman, who works as lead analyst for Renewable Energy Strategies program of IDC Energy Insights, said that though the government subsidies fueled the growth of the solar PV systems, the new, cheaper, easy to erect and manage solar systems accelerated the investments in solar products. He added that the solar installations in North America though currently fall back behind those in the European continent, the prevailing impulse for the solar products assures an exponential growth in the region.
Robert Hines, President of Evolution Solar Corporation, said that the new technical inventions and introductions reduced the cost of solar power generation. He added that the present growth of the solar PV products will ultimately reduce the difference in cost of power production between the fossil fuel power generation with that of solar power production. He explained that the developments in cost-efficient renewable solar power industry has generated a number of new jobs and is anticipated to create more in the future.
