GT Solar International, a polysilicon manufacturing expertise providing company, which is also engaged in offering growth systems for sapphire and silicon crystalline and other supplies for solar and LED markets, declared that it has obtained an order worth $47.3 million, from OCI Company, a South Korea-based polysilicon manufacturing company, for the supply of its latest patented SDR 400 CVD reactors.

GT Solar’s SDR400 reactors

OCI Company had earlier announced its polysilicon production capability expansion plans on 8th December 2010 and the new systems will be erected in the first phase of the expansion plan. The new SDR400 CVD reactor is designed to manufacture around 400 metric tons of polysilicon annually thus denoting the continued leading position of GT Solar in formulating and manufacturing energy effective reactors required by the industry. The latest SDR400 enables  20% savings on power for manufacturing every kilogram of polysilicon compared to the earlier SDR300 version of GT Solar.

Tom Gutierrez, president and CEO of GT Solar, expressed his happiness over the choice of SDR400 reactors for the production capability expansion of GT Solar. He added that the polysilicon production expertise offered by his company will continue to support the growing production needs of OCI.
