RUBENIUS, an alternative energy company based in Dubai, announced that the Mexican President, Calderon, has announced his intention to support the company’s project.
The President made the announcement at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, after his meeting with the chairman of RUBENIUS, Claus Rubenius. Calderon and Rubenius discussed the renewable energy storage in North America.
RUBENIUS announced its plans to pursue energy storage production. The plant for energy storage manufacturing will be built in Silicon Border, Baja California. The new plant will generate 1000 new green jobs.
RUBENIUS will offer energy storage, as well as products and expertise to off-grid communities in Mexico. The country will start many beta sites to provide off-grid communities with solar/wind power, water treatment, and power storage at rates similar to on-grid services. The Mexican President is interested in trying the technology in either one or two communities.
The company said that its expertise in smart grid and experience in UAE have given them the confidence to start a 1 GW energy storage project in the Mexicali science park of Silicon Border in Baja California. The required investment for the storage warehouse is above $4 billion, in over five to seven years.
