Electrobras Distribuicao, a federal utility, has been appointed by the Mines and Energy Ministry of Brazil to obtain generator units on a rental basis for fortifying the power supply to Rio Branco, which is the Brazilian Northern State Ampa’s capital city.
The ministry has released a statement to the effect that the Federal distributor would introduce a public bid process for taking the generator on lease for an 18 month period. This program is expected to be online for 90 days.
Aneel, the Brazilian Utility Sector Regulator, has given the go-ahead for the commercial operation of the Anhanguera Small Hydro. Aneel has authorized operations to commence at a plant located in Sao Paulo, a south eastern State in Brazil. This plant consists of three generator units having an installed capacity of 7.56 MW each, the total amounting to 22.7 MW. A domestic power firm Central Eletrica Anhanguera is the plant’s owner.
Under a different regulatory filing, Aneel has also okayed commercial operations at Coqueiral Small Hydro with a capacity of 3.16 MW located at Santa Catarina, a Southern State in Brazil. This plant consists of two generator systems each having an installed capacity of 1.58 MW and is owned by Coqueiral Energetica, a local company.
