EDP Renewables Inks Power Purchase Agreement for Wind Energy Plant

EDP Renewables announced that its subsidiary, Horizon Wind Energy, has inked a power purchase agreement for a wind energy plant in the PJM interconnection area.

The 99 MW wind farm is anticipated to be completely commissioned in the year 2011. With this 20-year agreement, the estimated wind energy capacity to be developed by the company increases to 70% in the US, for the period 2011 - 2012.

EDP Renewables has also closed long-term contracts for 385 MW of renewable energy in 2010. These contracts supported by the origination team bring the accumulated experience of closing more than 2000 MW of power purchase agreements. The company is concentrating on its growth towards its contracted capacity. EDP Renewables expects to install about 0.2 GW of capacity between 2011 and 2012.
