Twin Creeks Technology, Red Solar to Build Solar Manufacturing Facility in Malaysia

Twin Creeks Technologies, a producer of crystalline silicon solar panels, has performed the ground breaking ceremony for its proposed 100 MW solar cell and solar panel production facility in Perak High Tech Park in Ipoh, Malaysia.

The new project is the result of a newly formed partnership between the Perak State Economic Development Corporation through its subordinate company the Red Solar and Twin Creeks Technologies. The resultant venture Twin Creeks Malaysia (TCMSB) will have a new 250,000 square foot manufacturing facility.

The TCMSB production facility will utilize the Twin Creeks patented crystalline silicon photovoltaic expertise to meet the growing demand of the developing solar market of Malaysia and the countries covered under ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations). According to the accord, the new production facility will commence with the production of 100 MW solar panels initially and will expand into manufacturing 500 MW crystalline silicon-based solar panels and cells in a phased manner.

The production facility planned in phases is expected to bring in sufficient job opportunities in the region. The factory is projected to achieve its full production capability in 2012 and the solar modules manufactured from the factory will enable grid parity to match the production costs of fossil fuel generated electricity.
