SECP Partners with POSCO Power for Solar Power Plant in Nevada

Sustainable Energy Capital Partners (SECP) has declared that they are signing a joint venture partnership deal with POSCO Power for developing and constructing a 300 MW PV solar power plant in Boulder City in Nevada.

This project would be added to SECP’s increasing portfolio consisting of 400 MW solar projects in the Southwestern region of the US. This is POSCO Power’s first overseas renewable energy project to be developed without the support of its parent, South Korean Company, POSCO. According to Soung-Sik Cho, CEO and President of POSCO Power, the Boulder Project was the largest solar PV power unit in the world and it satisfies the green energy policy adopted by POSCO. This would also prove to be an entry point for the company into the US and other overseas markets for clean green energy.

One of the world’s biggest engineering, technical, construction and management service companies, the Parsons has been contracted to contribute to the project. Construction work would commence in the middle of 2012 and would create several hundreds of job opportunities for the local people. The plant when fully operational would power almost 135,000 homes for 25 years.

According to Steve Herr, SECP’s Managing Director, the company’s partnership with POSCO would be an evidence to demonstrate what could be achieved when like minded companies from the world unite together to execute a shared vision. He further mentioned that his company was happy to give a boost to Nevada’s economy by creating job opportunities while progressing with their mission of achieving sustainable and clean energy power. SECP is a leading developer of cost-effective renewable energy power plants in North America.
