Solarfun Power Holdings Opens New Office in Italy

Solarfun Power Holdings, silicon ingots, solar PV cells, modules and wafers producing company in China, declared that it has opened a new branch office in Milan, contracted two important new agreements and established a number of business developments in Italy.

The country has a robust photovoltaic market among the European countries and is anticipated to achieve over 1,500 MW solar installations by 2010.

Solarfun has first signed an accord with 9REN Group, a renewable energy company from Europe, to supply around 20.4 MW of solar PV modules for its proposed solar park in Italy. The park is anticipated to become functional in the third quarter of the year 2011. The accord it contracted with Gestamp Asetym Solar, a solar solution providing company from Spain, requires it to supply solar modules worth 11 MW. The supplied modules will be utilized by Gestamp in its solar farms in Italy and Spain, which are expected to become functional in the middle of 2011.

Dr. Peter Xie, Solarfun’s President and Chief Executive Officer, said that the company has tactically made its expansion in Italian markets with investments and is looking forward to achieving over 50 MW in 2010. He added that his company looks forward for its growth in Italy in association with regional developing companies such as the Loh-Group, Tozzi, 9REN, Meridian, Scatec, Rusol and Gransolar.
