Jim Bunker, Mayor of Chino Valley, has given Notices of Commendation to Professors James Subach and Govindasamy Mani Tamizhmani, at a meeting at the Town Hall for contributing to the solar panels acquired by the Town. Both Professors work in the College of Technology and Innovation at the Arizona State University (ASU)’s Polytechnic Campus.
Tamizhmani is TUV Rheinland Photovoltaic Testing Laboratory (TUV PTL)’s President. This Laboratory is a joint venture between TUV Rheinland of North America and ASU PTL and was formed chiefly for producing one of the best solar testing and certification units in the world. He has been researching on solar PVs, batteries and fuel cells concentrating on reliability and performance of commercialized solar modules for 26 years. He was awarded the title of Green Pioneer by the Phoenix Business Journal, recognizing his leadership abilities in solar testing and technologies.
James Subach, a Professor practicing in the Department of Engineering Technology, has also been running his own business consultancy firm for over 25 years and researching on industry models’ advancement for alternative energy businesses.
Tamizhmani had initiated a solar panel donation during his tenure as Director of ASU’s PTL, which was thereafter continued by TUV-PTL. The commendation from the Chino Valley Town came recognizing the benefits derived from the project. The TUV-PTL has contributed several solar panel donations to a number of organizations and groups including the Arizona Department of Commerce, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott Valley Police Department, Mesa Public Schools, Mesa Community College, and Northern Arizona University.
Subach has been associated with TUV-PTL for a long time and has extensive knowledge about the application process for the solar panel donation program. He helped the Chino Valley authorities to apply for the program and hence the town gave a separate commendation for his liaison work between TUV-PTL and the town. Subach on receiving the commendation remarked that he was both pleased and surprised to receive the commendation. His happiness was because the donations would be given to projects handling both solar energy and water sustainability in the Town of Chino Valley. They were to receive over 50 solar panels from TUV-PTL and these would be installed at the water reclamation facility. The town is also planning to use the donation for installation of additional solar panels to power the complete plant. The donation would also help the students of Yavapai College who would assist in the installation of the solar panels and thereby gain knowledge, which they would use for a future in renewable energy.
