North Delhi Power Completes Solar Power Generation Project

North Delhi Power, a partnership project of Delhi Government with TATA Power, declared that it has put into operation the solar power plant erected by TATA BP Solar.

The solar installation incorporates over 5,500 crystalline silicon solar PV panels. The installed solar panels will draw the sunlight and convert it into electrical power and the generated power will be linked to the main grid line of North Delhi Power. The 1 MW solar power installation will generate around 1.58 million units of electric power every year, which can be utilized to provide electricity to around 1,000 houses. The solar panels are designed to generate power for a period of 25 years.

The company has unveiled its plans to augment its solar power generation by three-fold in the next three or four year’s time. The company has plans to install rooftop solar panels over the roofs of its 56 substations located over its power distribution network in North and Northwest part of Delhi to generate 2.5 to 3 MW of solar power. It also has plans to build a 100 MW grid connected solar power generating plant in the state of Rajasthan and install solar systems over the rooftops of individual houses.
