WindPower Innovations, which provides solutions for smart grid and wind energy infrastructure, has proclaimed that it has signed a deal with A.F. Dick Manufacturing to establish its first comprehensive service heavy lift WindPower Innovations plant in Oregon.
The new facility will provide various services for the largest wind turbines, ranging from 1 MW to 5 MW, in the market. Dennie Houle, Business Development Officer of Oregon, and Willis L. Van Dusen, Mayor of Astoria city have encouraged and assisted in creating green jobs.
The Chief Executive Officer of WindPower Innovations, John Myers commented that the company is planning to open several such facilities across the US and the next facility will mostly be located in the New Mexico or Texas region. The new facility would help the company to earn high volume deals irrespective of equipment size, he added. The company has selected the Oregon location as it is located centrally and has access to deep-water port and rail, which would offer national and global access from and to the facility, he noted.
Myers further said that A.F. Dick Manufacturing has the devices and facilities to perform the services for large turbines, such as repairing all type of gearboxes and retrofitting of turbines with Permanent Magnet Technology.
