IC Green Projects Kicks Off New Solar Project in Southern Israel

IC Green Projects, an auxiliary company of Israel Corp., has declared the opening of a 2 MW solar power project. The power project will meet the electricity requirements of the people living in southern Israel.

The solar power project, completed with an investment of over $8.4 million, has received the required funding from Israel Discount Bank.

The government of Israel has set a goal to achieve 10% of its total power production from renewable energy sources by the year 2020. The government has approved more number of solar power projects all over the country. Recently the Infrastructure Ministry of the country has declared that it would float five new tenders in January 2011, to invite bids for building 50 MW solar power projects in the Negev desert. Currently Israel has a total power generation capacity of 12,000 MW.
