Abbey Renewables Announces Plans to Build Third Solar Farm in Cambridgeshire

Abbey Renewables, a Cambridgeshire-based company, has declared a proposal to develop a solar farm in Chittering, a hamlet in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. Earlier, the company has submitted proposals to build solar farms in Bourn and Wilburton.

The proposed farm will be located over a 17-hectar land at Radical Farm situated east of the village. The company has planned to submit its proposal to the authorities during spring of this year. The 5 MW farm when approved will generate enough power to light up hundreds of homes in the village. The power generated from the solar farm will offset thousands of tons of carbon dioxide emissions over a period of 25 years.

According to the company, the proposals made for approval fully comply with stipulated policies of the government and will not bring in any adverse impacts either on the landscape or to the community living in the village. The company has planned to build the solar farm with minimum intrusion and by effectively covering it from public view.
