EDF EN Canada Completes Phase One of St. Isidore Solar Installation

EDF EN Canada, a renewable energy development company, declared that it has commenced commercial operations of its first 12 MWp solar installation at St Isidore Solar Project. The project includes two 12 MWp solar photovoltaic installations placed six kilometers apart, close to the town of St. Isidore, Nation Municipality, Ontario.

The first 12 MWp of St. Isidore solar projects, which commenced the operations in late December, has 153,000 solar panels and generates enough power to meet the peak hour demand of 3,500 homes in Ontario. The power generated from the project is connected to the Hydro One power grid.

EDF EN Canada selected enXco Service Canada to provide regular operations and repair service for the project. The second project, St. Isidore B is currently undergoing construction and is expected to get finished in 2011. Both installations when complete and become fully functional, will supply around 24 MWp of power under the Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program (RESOP) of Government of Ontario.

Dexia and Union Bank, N.A. has provided the finance required for the project, which commenced the building activities in 2010 and deployed over 200 local workers in engineering, designing and construction related activities.

Tristan Grimbert, who leads EDF EN Canada and all EDF EN associates in North America as President and CEO, praised the company’s efforts in completing the project and declared the preparedness of the company in delivering ecological benefits of solar energy to the people living in Isidore. He added that currently the company generates around 60 MWp of clean solar energy and delivers it to the state grid.
