Invenergy Agrees to Trade Illinois Wind Farm to NextEra Energy

Invenergy Wind North America, a Chicago-based wind power developing company, has given its concurrence to trade its 150 MW wind park to an associated company of NextEra Energy, a Florida-based energy development company.

Ivenergy has agreed to sell its White Oak Wind Energy Center being constructed with 100 wind turbines in McLean County, Illinois to NextEra Energy on completion of its construction. The wind farm will have GE manufactured wind turbines and will generate enough energy to power 45,000 homes in the area. The wind power generation facility is constructed by Mortenson Construction, a Minnesota-based contracting company, at a cost of around $250 million and is anticipated to be finished and become operational by the second half of 2011. The White Oak wind farm located near Carlock town Bloomington-Normal area has contracted a 20 year power purchase accord with the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Invenergy along with its associated companies have so far formulated and built 20 wind farms till date. According to a release from American Wind Energy Association the company is rated as one among the top six privately owned wind power generating companies in the U.S.
