Indian State Signs Power Purchase Agreements with OHPC and OPTCL

The Orissa State Government has entered into two Power Purchase Agreements with Odisha Thermal Power (OTPCL) and Odisha Hydro Power (OHPC) for obtaining the power generated by their projects in three districts, Dhenkanal, Sonepur and Sambalpur Districts.

The first PPA was inked by S K Patnaik, the OHPC Director and AC Mallick, the Director of the Orissa State owned Gridco. The second agreement was signed by the CEO of OTPCL, H P Mohapatra and A C Mallick with Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, the Energy Minister.

As per the agreement, the state government would purchase 320 MW from the three hydroelectricity projects constructed over the Mahanadi River by the OHPC. These projects termed as SINDOL Cascade Hydroelectricity Projects would be built at Godhaneswar and Kapasira in Sonepur district and at Deogaon in Sambalpur district.
