First Solar Takes over RayTracker Along with its Workforce and Technology

First Solar, a producer of solar modules incorporated with latest semiconductor technology, has declared the take over of RayTracker, a photovoltaic balance system and solar tracking technology producing company, and a running company owned by Idealab, a company that creates and manages technology companies. The terms of the signed deal are not available.

As per the signed accord, the working team of people from RayTracker will unite with the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) group of First Solar. The workforce will bring with them the benefits such as the innovation of the solar technology, dependable engineering, and improved modeling of the photovoltaic systems, software engineering and growth of products to induce volumes productions. The acquisition will allow First Solar to incorporate the technology of Raytracker in its patented GC-Series single axis trackers and the exclusive patented PV-Platform Software Toolset of RayTracker for designing the system and operation. It will also be benefited by including the wireless communication technology and other PV balance-of-system inventions introduced by RayTracker. The clients of RayTracker will be switched over to First Solar and will become its clients.

Bruce Sohn, First Solar’s President, anticipates that the inclusion of RayTracker’s workforce with his company will enable the company to speed-up the process of delivery of clean cost effective solar power.
