Magnetek to Supply Inverters for Renewable Energy Sector

Magnetek, a provider of digital power and motion control systems that are deployed in elevator applications, overhead material handling and energy delivery, declared that it has obtained orders above $8 million for the supply of its utility-level power inverters during the past five weeks.

The received orders include an order worth $1 million for the supply of inverters for use in variable speed generators and inverters meant for wind turbines. The variable speed generator order is meant for deployment in a mixed heat and power usage. The company has planned to deliver the orders between April and July this year. Ed Butte, director of renewable energy in Magnetek, said that the received order enhances the goal of the company to assume the role of a bigger supplier of utility-level power inverters that are utilized in renewable energy projects. He rated the order as recognition for the variable speed technology deployed by the company.

The inverters produced by the company are utilized to convert the DC power produced from renewable energy sources into AC power that can be utilized by the utility companies. In the fiscal quarter that closed in October last year the company achieved $24.9 million sales and the wind inverters produced by the company accounted for nearly 20% of the achieved sales.
