International Renewable Energy Agency Receives US Support

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), currently headquartered in Abu Dhabi, UAE, has received commendation from Hillary Clinton, the United States Secretary of State, for its plans to speed up the growth and usage of renewable energy all over the world. She visited Abu Dhabi as part of her Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Visit.

In a lecture program she  presented at the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (MI) located in Abu Dhabi, she called IRENA, as a first of its kind international organization having its headquarters in the Middle East. She has spelt out her trust in  the organization and stressed that it can offer the vital connectivity between the developing and developed countries in renewable energy generation. She wanted IRENA to perform its role as a global organization and expressed her intentions to feel the positive impacts that IRENA can bring in. She reiterated the necessity to formulate renewable energy sources to tackle the energy crises faced by the planet.

Adnan Amin, IRENA’s Acting Interim Director General, who was with Ms.Clinton at the institute said that the joining of US in IRENA shows the importance, the country attaches to energy security, renewable energy usage and reduction in carbon dioxide discharges all over the world. He added that the statement of Ms.Clinton is a testimony to show how much importance the US gives in the growth of clean energy in developing as well as in developed countries.
