SunPower, a company engaged in designing, developing, producing and delivering of solar technologies, declared that it has signed three power purchase agreements (PPA) with Southern California Edison (SCE), a utility company, to deliver 711 MW of solar power.
The company has unveiled its plans to install a 110 MW facility at Los Banos California and 325 MW and 276 MW facilities at Rosamond, California. While the Los Banos facility is anticipated to be operational from 2014 the other two facilities in Rosamond, California will become functional by October 2016.
SunPower is expected install its patented SunPower Oasis power plant, the first of its kind of modular solar power block at the proposed sites to complete the utility level solar installation quickly. The SunPower Oasis power solar modules are designed to utilize limited quantity of land. The modules will incorporate 425 W of higher power production ratio of SunPower solar panels and SunPower T0 Tracker facility to track the movement of the sun all through the day to increase power generation by 25%.
The pre-installed cabling feature utilized in the modules reduces the requirement of onsite wiring. The Oasis smart inverter control facility that comes as a part of the installation improves the grid connectivity features and the incorporated SunPower Tracker Monitoring and Control System allows easy wireless control of the power plant from remote. Southern California Edison anticipates to power over 460,000 homes in California by utilizing the power generated from the 711 MW facilities.
