GWS Technologies, a developer of solar and wind farms through partnerships with investors and landowners, has declared that it is in the process of assessing various sites for its proposed 1,500 acre commercial level wind farm to be located northeast of Flagstaff, Arizona.
The proposed wind farm will assist the utility companies in Arizona to achieve their obligation of meeting 15% of their power supply from renewable energy sources such as solar and wind by the year 2025.
The company is looking for a prospective place in Colorado Plateau for the construction of a wind turbine farm due to the high wind potential of the place and its nearness to the new transmission lines currently under construction in the area. It considers the location as suitable for a large- scale utility-level wind power generation facility in Northern Arizona. GWS is also on the lookout for partners and equipment supplying companies to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services and maintenance services for the project.
The company has evolved a business model whereby it helps the landowners in formulating the design, selecting the location and in the construction and installation of wind turbines and solar panels to generate electricity and sell it to utility companies, thus earning revenue through long- term power purchase agreements.
