Consumer goods provider, Procter & Gamble has expanded its renewable power portfolio by installing a wind turbine at its pet care facility situated in Coevorden, Netherlands.
The company has also extended its involvement in solar energy by deploying solar panels at its Beauty & Grooming facility located in Cologne, Germany.
The Coevorden wind turbine is Procter & Gamble’s first investment in the wind power market. The wind turbine has started production in the last week of January 2011. The wind power produced from the wind turbine will account for 17% of the annual power consumption of the facility. The wind turbine is expected to generate nearly 5,500 MWh of energy every year, equivalent to meet the power demands of about 1,500 families in the Netherlands.
