The year 2010 saw that OPDE ITALY, an Italian-based company and a division of GRUPO OPDE, a Spanish company, which specializes in the formulation of solar PV farms, connecting 11 solar PV farms in 2010 to generate around 17 MW clean power.
The company has invested around 85 million Euros in the development of a total of 12 farms, which includes the upcoming 5.2 MW power project in Piedmont (Cuneo), which will be linked to the grid in the first part of 2011.
Out of the total 11 farms constructed by OPDE ITALY, eight farms are placed in Puglia region Italy and three farms are located in Piedmont region. The eight solar farms generate around 7.8 MW power and incorporate MECASOLAR fixed structures and the three farms utilize MECASOLAR 1-axis solar trackers.
Currently, the company has over 58 MW worth projects with approval in various zones of Piedmont regions such as Alessandria, Turin and Cuneo, which are ready to commence the construction in the first part of 2011. Currently, the company considers beginning the construction of 22 MW in the first quarter out of the total 58 MW. OPDE ITALY anticipates to complete construction of 200 MW solar projects by the year 2012 with a total investment of 850 million Euros.
