GE declared that it has contracted a 10-year accord with Cobra Energia, a Spanish wind energy developing company, to offer advanced services for its 178 GE wind turbines erected at eight wind farms all over Spain.
The contract rated as the biggest ever wind energy service contract by GE in Europe, underlines the strong position of the company in the high profile wind turbine services segment.
The accord will enable Cobra Energia to accomplish routine maintenance by utilizing the advanced solutions of GE for higher level of unscheduled maintenance, for solving problems, for making the required upgrades and replacement of parts. The services contract will cover the entire group of GE 1.5 MW wind turbines that are crossing the warranty period between the years 2010 and 2012.
By entering the accord with GE, Cobra Energia will receive the extra benefits such as the all time availability of wind turbines, augmented performance of the wind turbines, improved and extended service life of the wind turbines and foreseeable costs of maintenance. GE also will provide facilities to manage the wind turbine operations from remote and advanced level problem-solving capabilities.
