Williamson Family Care Center, located in West Virginia, known as ‘Heart of the Billion Dollar Coalfield’, has completed the installation of solar panels to supplement its energy use.
The 46 solar power panels supplied by SolarWorld and installed over the roof of the Care Center will allow it to produce 11 kW of clean solar energy. The Solar Week, a four day event, organized by Mayor Darrin McCormick, saw participation from technical colleges, contractors, electricians, business owners and residents from the regional community in the trainings and workshops.
Mountain View Solar & Wind, a Berkeley Springs West Virginia-based renewable energy company, presented the installation related activities along with The Jobs Project, a not- for-profit organization that encourages renewable power markets in Central Appalachia. West Virginia encourages renewable energy activities and currently provides lucrative cash incentives for solar system installations. The solar facility at the Care Center is anticipated to generate profit for the Center from the first year itself and will continue to generate power for a number of years.
Mountain View hired local people for the installation and announced its intentions to train more people on solar installation. The solar panels used for the installation are manufactured by SolarWorld, an American company, known for its crystalline silicon solar expertise.
