Kyocera to Supply Solar Modules for Two Solar Power Facilities in Japan

Kyocera, a designer, producer and supplier of wide range of products for the global energy & environment and information & communications markets, has announced that the company has secured an order to deliver solar modules for two projects of Tohoku Electric Power in northern Japan. However, Kyocera has not disclosed the financial terms of the contract.

Under the terms of the contract, Kyocera will deliver solar modules with a total capacity of 2 MW to Tohoku Electric’s solar-power facility located in the Miyagi prefecture and 1 MW of solar modules to another facility located in the Aomori prefecture. The facilities are anticipated to become operational in January 2012.

According to Kyocera based in Kyoto, the two facilities will jointly distribute 3.7 MWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the power demands of 1,100 homes. The facilities will also eliminate 1,800 metric tons of CO2 emissions in total every year.
