The Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC) declared that it has completed the erection of three solar power production facilities at Sam Rayburn and South Houston High Schools.
HARC has completed the 145 kW solar installation in association with Ignite Solar and Pasadena Independent School District (PISD).
The Pasadena ISD Solar program previously known as ‘East Harris County Solar Pilot Program,’ commenced as a two year project supervised by HARC to showcase the feasibility and efficiency of solar power producing systems installed in Houston. As a part of the program, students from the two high schools worked along with the scientists and engineers involved in the project and were benefited with the first hand information on the working of the three exclusive type of solar technologies. The solar program has received funding out of the settlement payment of a Clean Air Act enforcement suit filed by the sierra Club and Environment Texas. Sam Rayburn High School also has received finance from the State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) to showcase two more solar technologies.
HARC signed up with Houston-based Ignite Solar to provide total turnkey type of solar solutions. Broaddus & Associates provided the building site supervision services. Further, Ignite Solar jobbed with American Electric Technologies, a Houston-based company, to provide converter and power distribution systems and management in the execution of the web-based access for the students. Ignite Solar took the assistance of Tecta Solar and CEI Roofing for erecting the racking systems for the solar module installation.
