Spain’s Soltec Renewable Energies and Israel-based Shikun & Binui Solaria, a subsidiary of Shikun & Binui Renewable Energies will build a 6.7MW solar photovoltaic plant at Timna Copper Mines in Southern Israel.

Soltec PV Plant

Soltec and Shikun & Binui Solaria have entered into a joint venture, which will be responsible for the construction and the engineering procurement of large-scale photovoltaic (PV) plants generating more than 12MW of power scheduled for 2011-2012.

Israel, which has hoped to gain energy independence, can soon reduce the fuel import it requires for energy generation once the solar photovoltaic plants are set up.
