ALSTOM, an international leader in the generation and transmission of power and rail infrastructure, plans to use SAMCEF for Wind Turbines (S4WT) for its wind turbines.
This professional software from SAMTECH is equipped with unique capabilities such as analysis of complex dynamic systems and approval of wind turbines.
As a result of long term strategic alliance with SAMTECH, Alstom has arranged to buy the S4WT. The purchase of this software solution was confirmed after the completion of validation campaigns that conducted experiments to prove the accuracy of numerical analysis.
One important factor that motivated Alstom to select S4WT is its ability to incorporate sophisticated mechanical models in one comprehensive model of aero-elastic wind turbine. Other factors that convinced ALSTOM were the software’s ease-of-use and precise predictions. Alstom also studied in detail the software’s capability in handling aero-elastic loads and analysis of Multi-Body-Systems.
Alstom had started collaboration with SAMTECH back in 2000, when the S4WT solver SAMCEF Mecano was used in one of Alstom’s wind turbines. In the same year, Alstom unveiled the first-of-its-kind 600 kW wind turbine power train among all non-linear dynamic SAMCEF Mecano models. The two companies forged a long-term relationship in the domain of advanced dynamic simulation of wind turbines following the success of the experimental verification of this model. Alstom made further collaboration by conducting intensive campaigns that played a vital role in the setting up of numerous multi-megawatt sized wind turbines equipped with high-performance S4WT.
