HabiHut Installs Solar Water Kiosks in Kenya

HabiHut, a Bozeman-based manufacturer of rigid modular shelters, has successfully installed solar water kiosks in Kenya.

Solar Water Kiosk

The company completed the installation of three kiosks in a single day. HabiHut worked along with the NGO, Umande Trust, to deploy the pilot units. Solar panels were installed along with HabiHut solar water kiosks for lighting and cell phone charging facilities.

The three months of the pilot run proved the financial viability of running the solar water kiosks. Water sales provided 85% of the revenue while cell phone charging services provided the rest 15%. The solar lights enabled the kiosks to be operated from as early as 6 a.m. to late 10 p.m. HabiHut has collaborated with  The Hunt Institute to offer, “Hot Spring Micro-Franchise,” to African entrepreneurs.
