Solar Frontier Commences Solar Module Production at Kunitomi Plant

Solar Frontier, a Japanese company, commenced commercial production of CIS thin-film solar modules at its Kunitomi plant in Miyazaki, Japan on the 15th of February.

Solar Frontier's Kunitomi factory

Solar Frontier had broken ground for the project on September, 2009 and after 16 months it has launched the new factory on schedule. The company plans to manufacture large panels with higher output at this gigawatt-scale plant. The Kunitomi plant has advanced production automation to achieve high manufacturing efficiency.

Solar Frontier aims to achieve near full production capacity this summer. The Kunitomi plant would become the world’s largest CIS production facility and would compete with  other global producers. European and Japanese standards organizations have issued safety and performance certifications for the products manufactured at the Kunitomi facility.

Having bases in Germany, Japan and the United States, the company aims to deliver its solar energy solutions to global customers through its sales network and partnerships.
