UN Awards Solar Energy System Contract to Suntech Power

Suntech Power Holdings, a Chinese solar panel and PV modules manufacturer, has won the bidding from the UN to supply an $80 million solar energy generation system. The company has partnered with Peak International Trade (Tianjin), for the system supply.

Suntech Power is the world's largest producer of PV solar modules, and it has developed a unique small-scale hybrid PV system. This PV system integrates diesel generators so that power would be available in environmentally-vulnerable areas. UN's peacekeeping forces and its other subordinate bodies are to utilize the hybrid PV system.
