The installation of an 1.05MW solar array has involved the spreading of United solar laminates over the rooftops of 21 schools across the city of Reno in Nevada and is completed. The district will thus save US$300,000 by generating 2 million kWh of power annually.
The practical and aesthetic benefits offered by United Solar laminates enabled PK Electrical, an engineering company, to choose them for the Washoe County School District project. The real-time data obtained from the array gives important insights about cost and energy efficiency and can be displayed using a computer monitoring system.
Ken Fox, United Solar’s U.S. president, claimed that the products manufactured by them are lightweight, easy to bend, and offers seamless integration. He also stated that the fit and appearance of the solar modules installed on metal roof tops of the Washoe County School District is good.
Fox added that today’s youth value such sustainable energy projects for generating power and thus empower future generations.
