The Heraeus Photovoltaic Business Unit declared that it has commenced the building of its new production facility in Singapore for the manufacture of the silver metallization paste that is used in the applications of crystalline solar cell.
The Singapore site will include its production, R&D, sales and technical services sections and is anticipated to commence its functions during the second half of the year 2011.
Heraeus manufactures pastes needed for the PV industry from its manufacturing facilities located in the Germany, China and the USA and Singapore will become the fourth production facility of the company. The company utilizes a pioneering technology in the manufacture of silver pastes required for crystalline solar cells. The Heraeus SOL Series of silver paste is specifically developed to improve the efficiencies and to offer a broader processing windows to offer increased yields and improved output for solar cell producers.
According to Andy London, the Vice President of the company, the new production facility at Singapore will substantially augment the capability of the company in the PV paste business globally. It will also add to the current technical support capabilities of the company in meeting the growing demands of its clients.
