Parabel to Develop Solar Facility in Jännersdorf, Germany

Brandenburg in Germany is in the planning and approval stage for one of the biggest solar power production facilities. The solar power facility being developed by the Berlin-based Parabel will come over a site that was formerly utilized as a military training ground and will generate around 90 MW of clean solar power.

In the first phase of its construction, which is expected commence from June and end in August 2011 the solar facility will produce around 41 MW of solar power. The solar facility to be built in Jännersdorf, which comes under the Marienfliess municipality, is expected to receive the full support of the municipality in issues related to permission for the installation and land usage. The municipality acts in accordance with the energy policy of Brandenburg to achieve 20% of its total energy usage from renewable energy sources by the year 2020. The municipal approval for the project is expected to be completed by May 2011.

According to Jürgen Will, Parabel’s Managing Director, the usage of conversion area for solar installation offers attractive option of usage both from economic and ecological point of view. The company is currently in the process of choosing an investor to invest for the project.
