Research and Markets have released GlobalData’s new report titled “Grid Integration of Renewable Energy Resources - Issues and Solutions”.
Most renewable sources of energy give an intermittent power output and the fluctuations in the output of power can damage the power grid frequencies, component performances, voltages and can also cause instability in the power generating system and thus lead to interrupted services to customers. Thus concerns about the reliability of these renewable power sources is what is stopping the transmission system operators (TSOs) and power utilities to allow new and renewable energy sources to be linked to the grid.
If the renewable energy generation exceeds 10% then grid stability is definitely affected. Currently, several countries have made it mandatory that 20% of the total power generated should be from renewables, and so grid integration issues of renewable energy sources must necessarily be resolved so that distributed generation is possible in the future. The report mainly deals with the diverse strategies required for solving issues such as the grid integration of renewables. A mention of the important research associations and industry groups that work on grid integration is also made in the report along with an outline of the major problems that come with high penetration of the grid’s distributed generation. Moreover case studies from countries such as New Zealand, Spain and Germany are also discussed in the report.
The report elucidates the primary solutions for renewable energy grid integration issues and also explains in depth, the different strategies, which could be adopted to be in line with the changes that take place inside the Distribution and Transmission infrastructure. The methods adopted by various countries to deal with grid integration are also explained in detail and one can also know the diverse associations and industry groups that are working on solving the problem.
