Versar, Johnson Controls Federal Systems Finish Solar Project in Richmond Virginia

Versar, a Springfield, VA, headquartered company, declared that it has completed a solar energy installation at the United States Courthouse in Richmond, Virginia, in association with Johnson Controls Federal Systems. Installation of the system will enable the Courthouse to lessen its usage of fossil fuel and discharge of carbon dioxide.

The project was awarded to the partnership of Versar and Johnson Controls Federal Systems under a competitive process by the General Services Administration (GSA) of the USA. Versar has supplied the necessary design for the 115 kW DC photovoltaic (PV) project and completed the installation. The 500 solar panel system was installed over an area of 21,000 sq. ft covering a major portion of the roof structure.

Jeff Wagonhurst, Versar’s President has called the project as a cooperative effort between Versar, GSA and other contractors to complete the project within the budget limits.
