The Paramus school district has unveiled its plans to incorporate solar panels over the roof of Paramus High School by September this year.
The project under consideration for over a year requires an investment of around $1 million and the money invested is expected to be returned in a period of seven years.
According to Steven Cea, Paramus School’s business administrator, the school district is planning to call for bids by 1st of March. The grant from the School Development Authority of the state will meet part of the $1 million cost to be spent on the solar installation. The solar panels proposed for the installation are expected to produce around 240,000 kilowatt hours of clean energy in the first year.
The school district expects to finalize a contractor for the project before its meeting with Board of Education on 21st March and is looking forward to finish the installation for the 2011-12 school year.
