AboitizPower Announces Expansion of Sibulan Hydroelectric Plant

AboitizPower, a public owned company headquartered at Cebu City, Philippines has declared that it is planning to augment the capacity of its Sibulan hydroelectric plant located in Davao del Sur in the middle of the current year (2011).

Luis Miguel, AboitizPower’s Senior Vice President, while briefing the future plans of the company has said that the company will construct two hydropower generation facilities to add 13.6 MW to its present 42.5 MW power production. He added that the completion of the construction depends on the weather conditions and will take around two years. The Sibulan construction expansion is expected to get completed before the completion of its proposed Tamugan run-of-river hydroelectric plant, which is also planned in Davao del Sur. According to Luis Miguel, the company scaled downs the power projection capability of Tamugan hydropower plant from the proposed 27.5-MW to 11 MW.

Hedcor Sibulan, a fully owned auxiliary company of AboitizPower is currently managing the functions of the Sibulan hydroelectric plant and it will be engaged in the development of the Tamugan plant.
